Teamwork Makes a Lasting Impression

When a hospice patient wanted to see her dog one last time, Joan Van Brunt (left) and Cara Conley, RN, worked together to make this special request happen for a very appreciative patient and her sister.

“I wanted to thank Joan Van Brunt and Cara Conley, RN for the kindest act of all. My sister was on hospice care at Alta Bates, and I called Administration to ask if I could bring her dog in to see her before she transitioned on. Joan was very gracious to me with her kindness and she called me right back with the greatest news. She let me know everything was arranged for me to bring my sister’s dog to visit her for one last time. Joan and Cara worked together to make this happen and my sister received her own room. I will always appreciate you both for this for a long time to come.I wanted to let you know when my sister saw her dog, Fifi, she was so very happy that she threw the covers off of her bed. She was just smiling and talking to Fifi. It was actually the best feeling for me to see this beautiful sight. Thank you for giving both my sister and I this moment in time.
I am a Sutter Health employee and even though you didn’t know this about me, you still went above and beyond to make this wonderful wish come true, and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart. This makes me even more proud to be a Sutter Health employee. I just wanted to thank
you both and let you know how much I appreciate you. Hopefully we will meet in person because I would love to meet the two very special ladies who made my sister smile. God bless you both, because you were a blessing to me.”
